Dolphin Energy Awards Contract For Receiving Facilities At Taweelah

Successful Bidder, Technip/Al Jaber, will Construct Receiving Facility and Associated Pipelines

Abu Dhabi, UAE,  November 27, 2004 – Dolphin Energy Limited today announced that the Technip (Abu Dhabi) & Al Jaber Energy Services Consortium of the UAE is the successful bidder for its new Taweelah Gas Receiving Facility and associated pipelines in Abu Dhabi.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) award is for building the onshore receiving facilities at Taweelah for Dolphin Energy’s forthcoming natural gas Export Pipeline from Qatar. The contract’s value is in excess of $62 million.

The facilities will be built adjacent to the existing Taweelah Power Station. They will initially comprise three parallel gas receiving trains & associated equipment, metering facilities, control buildings & warehouse – plus additional interconnecting pipelines to the Taweelah Power Stations and to the existing Maqta-Jebel Ali Pipeline.

Other pre-qualified bidders were Dodsal Pte, JFE Engineering, National Petroleum Construction Company, Petrofac International, Technimont and Willbross Middle East/Al Hussam Joint Venture.

When the Dolphin Project is commissioned in 2006, refined Dolphin gas from Qatar will flow through the 48 inch, 370 kilometer Export Pipeline from Ras Laffan to Taweelah in Abu Dhabi, where its flow will be monitored and controlled for distribution to customers in the UAE and Oman. Initial flow will be an average 2 billion standard cubic feet per day.

On January 12, 2004, Dolphin Energy announced the award of its initial Dolphin Project contracts – for construction of the Ras Laffan processing plant, supply of its compression units and construction of two offshore production platforms respectively. On April 17, EPC awards were made for the twin sealines in Qatari waters, and for the construction of the Export Pipeline itself.
