Chairman's Message

Dolphin Energy Limited’s Dolphin Gas Project has achieved the most important milestone in its brief history – the commencement of production and processing of Dolphin gas in Qatar and its supply by pipeline, through joint Qatari-UAE waters, to the United Arab Emirates.

After nine years of visionary planning, drilling, construction and engineering, this unique venture has come to fruition.

It fulfills the vision of our late President, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan. It also demonstrates the continuing commitment to the Dolphin Gas Project of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahayan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi and of His Highness the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahayan.

We are now producing substantial quantities of raw natural gas from the 24 deep wells that we have drilled in Qatar’s offshore North Field. This gas is then processed onshore at our Gas Processing Plant in Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, where valuable byproducts such as LPGs and condensate are removed for sale to world markets.

Finally, the refined methane gas is transported through our 364 kilometer, 48 inch subsea export pipeline – the longest and largest in the Middle East – all the way to our Receiving Facilities at Taweelah in Abu Dhabi. From there, it is distributed to our customers by overland pipeline.

One of the largest single energy initiatives ever undertaken in the Middle East, Dolphin is now supplying  two billion standard cubic feet of refined natural gas from Qatar to utilities, industries and consumers throughout the UAE and Oman every single day. 

The pace of our progress has been unrelenting.

The continuing support of the Governments of the UAE, Qatar and Oman has been the key factor in enabling the national and international stakeholders in Dolphin Energy to assemble the skills, technologies and construction teams essential to the success of our mission. The Dolphin Gas Project, which has brought together these three GCC nations in an international energy network for the very first time, is now a functioning source of clean, new energy for the Southern Gulf.

Above all, Dolphin Energy’s gas from Qatar will be supporting new utilities and industries throughout our region – creating wealth, growth and employment for GCC citizens.
