Dolphin Energy Limited announced today that it is to provide US$100,000 worth of sponsorship support for the forthcoming 2nd Annual Gas Processing Symposium.
The Symposium, which is being organized by Qatar University’s Gas Processing Center, will be held under the patronage of HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
Attracting attendance from major energy companies, the forum will take place from 11-14 January 2010 at Qatar University and is intended to be a primary event in the area of gas processing.
Many Industrial and academic speakers will be presenting at the Symposium which will be inaugurated by HE Dr. Mohammad bin Saleh Al Sada, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy and Industry Affairs.
The announcement to sponsor the event was marked in a meeting between Dolphin and the Gas Processing Center which was held at Dolphin Energy Tower. Mr. Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager Qatar presented the cheque to Dr. Hassan Rashid Al Derham, VP Research, Gas Processing Center.
The meeting was also attended by a host of senior managers from both parties. This included from Dolphin Energy, Mr. Ibrahim Jeham Al Kuwari, Deputy General Manager and Mr. Ajlan Eid Al Enazi, DVP Public Relations. Dr. Boualem Bouashsah, Associate Dean of Engineering, Dr. Fadwa El Jack, Symposium Chair and Osama Omar, Symposium Manager attended on behalf of the Gas Processing Center.
Commenting on the support provided by Dolphin Energy, Mr. Albuainain, said: “The Symposium will address important challenges and opportunities in gas processing by focusing on aspects of design, health and safety and the environment. In addition, it is apt that we support this initiative because of the important and integral role played by Qatar University in helping to develop knowledge and understanding in this critical area.”

Dolphin Energy is owned 51 percent by Mubadala Development Company, on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi – and 24.5 percent each by Total of France and Occidental Petroleum of the USA.
