Dolphin Energy Limited, the major supplier of imported natural gas to UAE’s power and desalination plants, is one of four lead sponsors to the Fifth Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Festival 2008.
Within a very short space of time, the Festival has grown to play a leading part in the cultural life of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This year’s program, from March 22 through April 2, is the most ambitious to date. It emphasizes the Festival’s developing position in the world arts calendar – with the London Philharmonic and the Bolshoi Ballet among signature performers alongside the finest painters, musicians and opera and classical Arabic singers.
In announcing the sponsorship, Dolphin Energy CEO Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh stated: “Dolphin Energy takes great pleasure in sponsoring the Festival – which must be seen in the context of Abu Dhabi’s ambition to become a leading international centre of art, culture and heritage.”
He added: “Very soon our capital city will be home to Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Zaha Hadid’s Performing Arts Centre, Jean Nouvel’s Louvre and Tadeo Ando’s Maritime Museum. Abu Dhabi requires, and deserves, an Arts Festival that measures up to this new and increasingly exhilarating cultural atmosphere.”
Dolphin Energy Limited
Dolphin Energy Limited was created to develop substantial energy projects throughout the GCC and to create long-term economic wealth and new business opportunities for GCC citizens, far into the future.
Dolphin Energy’s major strategic initiative, the Dolphin Project, involves the production and processing of natural gas from Qatar’s North Field, and transportation of the dry gas by sub-sea export pipeline from Qatar to the UAE, which begun in July 2007.
The long term customers for Dolphin gas from Qatar are ADWEA (Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority), UWEC (Union Water & Electricity Authority), DUSUP (Dubai Supply Authority) and from 2008 OOC (Oman Oil Company). Each has signed a gas supply agreement with Dolphin Energy for 25 years.
Dolphin Energy is owned 51 percent by Mubadala Development Company, on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi – and 24.5 percent each by Total of France and Occidental Petroleum of the USA.
