Dolphin Energy Wins "Best Company In Gas" Award At 2008 'Oil Oscars'

Abu Dhabi - March 12, 2008

7th Annual Excellence in Energy Ceremony Held in Dubai

Dolphin Energy Limited has won the coveted category of “Best Company in Gas” at the 7th Annual Middle East Excellence in Energy Awards.

These were organized by the region’s leading energy publication, Pipeline Magazine, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Airline and of the Dubai Supply Authority.

The award, which was made by the magazine’s specialist panel of independent judges, recognizes Dolphin Energy’s role in the creation, construction and inauguration of one of the largest international gas development projects ever built.

In the period 2002 through 2008, Dolphin Energy drilled twenty-four 4,000 meter deep gas wells offshore Qatar, fabricated and installed two offshore production platforms, and designed and built its complex $1.6 billion onshore gas processing plant in Qatar. The company also completed the longest and largest undersea gas export pipeline in the Middle East, between Qatar and the UAE, as well as the receiving and distribution facilities to serve customers throughout the Emirates and in Oman.

Dolphin Energy’s General Manager-UAE, Ibrahim Ahmed Al Ansari, received the award for “Best Company in Gas” from Saeed Khoory, Group CEO of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC). This was the fourth Excellence in Energy award won by Dolphin since 2004.

In his opening remarks at the Ceremony, Mr Al Ansari said: “Over 300 companies have been nominated for awards this year, and there are more than 600 energy industry guests here. These figures reflect the growing interest in quality performance throughout the region’s oil and gas industries, as well as the increasing competition to stand out from one’s peers.”

Dolphin Energy Limited

Dolphin Energy Limited was created to develop substantial energy projects throughout the GCC and to create long-term economic wealth and new business opportunities for GCC citizens, far into the future.

Dolphin Energy’s major strategic initiative, the Dolphin Project, involves the production and processing of natural gas from Qatar’s North Field, and transportation of the dry gas by sub-sea export pipeline from Qatar to the UAE, which begun in July 2007.

The long term customers for Dolphin gas from Qatar are ADWEA (Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority), UWEC (Union Water & Electricity Authority), DUSUP (Dubai Supply Authority) and from 2008 OOC (Oman Oil Company). Each has signed a gas supply agreement with Dolphin Energy for 25 years.

Dolphin Energy is owned 51 percent by Mubadala Development Company, on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi – and 24.5 percent each by Total of France and Occidental Petroleum of the USA.
