AWARDS FOR 5 BUDS: “Best Undiscovered Design Students”
Dolphin Energy Limited today announced a unique design competition to seek out the ‘Best Undiscovered Design Students’ or ‘BUDS’ in the UAE’s universities – with excellent cash prizes on offer for each of the five different design projects listed.
The competition will provide an opportunity for students from a variety of design backgrounds to demonstrate their problem solving and design skills – entering either as individuals or in small teams of between two and five people. There is no limit to the number of teams that may enter from any one university.
Budding designers are invited to produce important materials for Dolphin Energy’s Corporate Communications Division in five different categories: Eid Al Adha card & envelope; Eid Al Fitr card & envelope; Seasons Greetings card & envelope; Competition logo and advertisement design for 5 BUDS for the 2008 event and a new web animation screensaver.
“We are seeking innovative quality work that follows the company’s established look and feel, yet uses freshness and imagination,” said Dolphin’s Corporate Communications Manager Mirna Hijazi. “The competition also provides students with excellent opportunities to work on real projects – a valuable asset for their portfolios.”
Ms Hijazi explained that the company would award Dhs 10,000 to the winners of each design category, and that Dolphin planned to use all the winning work, with due credit given to the relevant designers.
She added: “The company will be importing substantial quantities of Dolphin natural gas from Qatar for UAE utilities and industries during the summer of 2007. We shall celebrate the occasion in many ways – tapping fresh design talent is one of them!”
Submissions are invited from students at all stages of their university careers – undergraduate to post-graduate. The closing date for entries is Thursday, June 14, 2007. The full details of how to enter, together with the entry form itself, are given on the company website www.dolphinenergy.com/5BUDS2007. Potential and actual competitors who have any further questions are invited to contact directly corpcomms@dolphinenergy.com.
Dolphin Energy Limited
Dolphin Energy Limited was created to develop substantial energy projects throughout the GCC. Its objective is to create long-term economic wealth and new business opportunities for GCC citizens, far into the future. Dolphin Energy’s major strategic initiative, the Dolphin Project, involves the production and processing of natural gas from Qatar’s North Field, and transportation of the dry gas by sub-sea pipeline across joint UAE-Qatari waters to the UAE, beginning in 2006.
Dolphin Energy’s first initiative, the Al Ain to Fujairah Pipeline, came on stream in January 2004.The pipeline supplies the Fujairah Water and Power Plant on the UAE’s East Coast – initially with natural gas from Oman, and subsequently with Dolphin gas from Qatar. In May 2005, Dolphin began to supply natural gas to the UAE Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The gas is being delivered via a tie-in near Qidfa between Dolphin’s Al Ain - Fujairah pipeline and the existing Emarat gas pipeline network.
Dolphin Energy is owned 51 percent by Mubadala Development Company, on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi – and 24.5 percent each by Total of France and Occidental Petroleum of the USA.
