"Fuelling the Future" Program to Welcome Senior Students
A group of senior engineering and science students from Qatar will attend the forthcoming Gastech exhibition and conference in Abu Dhabi as guests of Dolphin Energy Limited, it was announced today.
The Gastech event, which is held yearly in a different country, takes place in the UAE for the first time from December 4-7, 2006. Dolphin Energy is official 'co-host' for the event, alongside the ADNOC Group of Companies.
A total of 25 students have been invited from the engineering and science faculties at Qatar University and the Qatar campus of Texas
A & M University. As guests of Dolphin Energy, the group will join UAE and other international engineering students in a first-time networking program devised by Gastech organizers – "Fuelling the Future."
The students will fly to Abu Dhabi from Doha on December 6 for two days of information and recruitment meetings, plus visits to both conference sessions and exhibition stands.
Dolphin Energy CEO Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh commented: "Our intention is that these students, who are all keen to work in the regional energy sector, will be exposed to the gas industry's current issues, forthcoming projects and potential employers.
"The students will have a real opportunity to learn about the practical needs of gas producers and utilities – what is on offer to new graduates, as well as what is expected of them. Dolphin is very pleased to host their visit and to encourage their career research."
Dolphin Energy Limited
Dolphin Energy Limited was created to develop substantial energy projects throughout the GCC. Its objective is to create long-term economic wealth and new business opportunities for GCC citizens, far into the future. Dolphin Energy’s major strategic initiative, the Dolphin Project, involves the production and processing of natural gas from Qatar’s North Field, and transportation of the dry gas by sub-sea pipeline across joint UAE-Qatari waters to the UAE, beginning in 2006.
Dolphin Energy’s first initiative, the Al Ain to Fujairah Pipeline, came on stream in January 2004.The pipeline supplies the Fujairah Water and Power Plant on the UAE’s East Coast – initially with natural gas from Oman, and subsequently with Dolphin gas from Qatar. In May 2005, Dolphin began to supply natural gas to the UAE Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The gas is being delivered via a tie-in near Qidfa between Dolphin’s Al Ain - Fujairah pipeline and the existing Emarat gas pipeline network.
Dolphin Energy is owned 51 percent by Mubadala Development Company, on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi – and 24.5 percent each by Total of France and Occidental Petroleum of the USA.
