Dolphin Energy Takes Up Major Sponsorship in 17th Arabian Gulf Cup

Dolphin Energy Limited today announced its sponsorship of the17th Arabian Gulf Cup in Doha, Qatar, which is being held from 10-24 December, 2004.
Dolphin is sponsoring the tournament for the very first time. The company joins other important global and regional organizations keen to demonstrate their support of this major regional sporting property.
This year’s Gulf Cup is set to be truly unique. Qatar has invited the football teams of Iraq & Yemen as well as those of the six GCC States, in a new-look tournament with basketball, handball and volleyball also being played in the Cup for the first time.
The event is being organized by Qatar Sports International (QSi) – the Qatar National Olympic Committee’s own sports business directorate, established in 2003.
Khalifa Al Subaey, Executive Director QSi, said: “I am very pleased to have Dolphin join the Gulf Cup team. Dolphin’s role clearly demonstrates that the strong economic ties between Qatar and the UAE – as manifested by modern technologically-driven companies like Dolphin – can assist in supporting important regional sports events such as the 17th Arabian Gulf Cup. In May 2005, Dolphin began to supply natural gas to the UAE Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The gas is being delivered via a tie-in near Qidfa between Dolphin’s Al Ain - Fujairah pipeline and the existing Emarat gas pipeline network.
Dolphin Energy is owned 51 percent by Mubadala Development Company, on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi – and 24.5 percent each by Total of France and Occidental Petroleum of the USA.
